Bandirma International Architecture Competition


We understand the main aims of this project is to design a park and a design institute.It would be detrimental to both the park and the design institute to simply apply a typical system of buildings gathered in a centralised area within such a vast park area.
So we decided to draw as much opportunity out of the site as possible. We expect that the trigger for activating the site will be the legacy of the site (the historical ruins and trees bent by the strong north wind, etc) as much as the functions to be introduced.
The site has so many access points for circulation and people can come to the site from various directions.
The collection of buildings consisting mainly of the design institute are conceived from small elements loosely connected as if to form a path. These 3-dimensional paths move and cross over each other creating a variety of spaces.

For example they may make a place for enjoying music, another crossing makes a place for exploring art, another for learning and sometimes they form an invisible border between inside and outside…These buildings do not have many clear boundaries.

They are covered by the roof structure which is borrows its form from the topography of the site.The visitor to the site will feel relaxed and be led from space to space without being aware of it. A visitor to the site walks past a tree and a pillar like a tree and a space likea cave, discovering as they go.As the visitor walks something grabs there attention, but soon after they find somethingelse that takes their interest and they enjoy the complex sequence of spaces.The visitor doesn’t search for their destination, they wander from place to place.
